I’m a retired pharmacist turned functional medicine provider. My most eye-opening experience was when I worked as a pharmacist in the hospital for the oncology unit. There I worked alongside oncologists and the entire health care team to optimize chemotherapy and drug therapy to minimize and manage unwanted side effects. I provided patients with detailed information regarding their chemotherapy regimen and played an important role in side effect management.

It was this experience that sparked an interest in disease prevention since I saw so many lives and families torn apart by cancer and other preventable illnesses. As a pharmacist, I saw a tremendous void that needed to be filled. I see the value in medication therapy when appropriate, although I see a greater value in healthy lifestyle choices.

This really came to light when I struggled with complications from my labour and delivery and had to have 3 surgeries postpartum. A healthy lifestyle and nutrition plan helped me bounce back from the surgeries so that I could take care of my newborn son.

I believe that a healthy diet, a healthy mindset and joyful movement are vital to preventing many chronic diseases. I have written a book called Living Light to help you incorporate simple lifestyle changes into your daily life.

I now run The Living Light Metabolic Reset Program which is a 10-week program to help people lose weight, improve their energy, sleep deeper and improve hormonal health so they can love the way they look, wake up with lots of energy, and feel more happy and peaceful.
